Join us on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the NJ Meadowlands Environment Center when we host a program with speaker Joe Macasek of the NJ Canal Society.  The Morris Canal was a world famous engineering marvel of its time.  Approximately 102 miles long, the canal primarily transported anthracite coal, iron ore, limestone, and agricultural products.  Operating from 1831-1924, the canal employed a system of 23 lift locks and 23 inclined planes to overcome the impressive elevation change of 1,674 feet.

The Meadowlands Environment Center is located at Two DeKorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst, NJ.   Hope to see you there.
